The year is 2004.

The United States has been taken over by an Emperor who has used his financial resources and religious fanatic ties to instill paranoia in the masses, utilizing his agencies and military might to force the free-thinking populace into conforming to his rigid personal standards.

This is not fiction.

Welcome to the Divided States of America.

These are the "family values" hypocrites who will send a man or woman to jail for twenty years for looking at naughty pixels, all in the name of what's moral... while bung-plunging your kid sister or daughter. These are the people you right-wing bastards voted in, and these are the people running your precious "moral" government right now. I hope you realize that theye are not what they claim to be. Whether or not you have a problem with what they have done to these kids, they are proven hypocrites and liars, and should not be supported.

This list isn't speculation or conspiracy. It is a matter of public record.

Good day!

Due to inactivity on this group, and to try to prevent further duplication of effort, I'd like to redirect your attention to dark_syndicate. There you will find much of the same, and can post similar items to what are seen here, but there's a lot more updating going on and asilana and I figured it might be a good plan to consolidate if we're gonna get the job done. Please bring your zeal, strong emotions, plans, events, and input along!

If things pick up here, we'll keep it around. Otherwise, though, we'll consider it "tumbleweed storage" as of September 26th, one year after the last post. We hope to see you soon! At

Sep. 11th, 2005 @ 09:46 pm Katrina Fundraiser
I have been planning a Katrina Relief concert for about a week now and the community has been great. They have offered to donate everything I've needed until now. Now I need a venue. I have been told that the Cotati Plaza in Cotati, CA would be a great location but I have to ask the city council for permission. I need your help!

Wednesday I will be going in front of the City Council. I could really use some community support. Please support the concert and Katrina Survivors by sending a short email to the Cotati City Council. In case you don't know, I am just one person, planning this. I don't have any savings or extra money so I can't afford the permits and insurance. I'm hoping the city will consider sponsoring the event so I don't have to try to come up with the funds. I need people to put the screws to them.

If you would please call, email or show up at the meeting, I would be so greatful!

If you could please, in your emails or phone calls say something like:

I would love to see this fundraiser at the plaza
I would attend
People in NOLA, Mississippi, etc really need our help
I would be disappointed if it didn't happen
Great for surrounding businesses
Do your part to help Katrina survivors
Wave the fees
Help with insurance costs
Great city!

Bring Them Home Now Tour
From Camp Casey, Crawford to Washington DC

From George Bush’s door step to Communities along the way, We Demand That:

* Elected Representatives Decide Now to Bring the Troops Home
* We Take Care of Them When They Get Here
* We Never Again Send Our Loved Ones to War Based on Lies!

We are currently at a significant turning point in how the American public views the war in Iraq. As the death toll in Iraq rises, Cindy Sheehan’s vigil near President Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas, has captured the hearts and minds of thousands of Americans. Bush’s approval rating is falling. The voice of military families, who have lost loved ones and those with loved ones in harm’s way or about to deploy, can activate the American people. The voice of veterans, both of this war and of previous wars will also build the movement to end the war. Together these critical voices can demand that President Bush make the decision now to bring the troops home.

With the new parent-aimed advertising for recruitment, and recruitment being down 42 percent this quarter, the biggest drop in a three-quarter streak for the military, does anyone think a draft is looking a bit more likely?

Feb. 11th, 2005 @ 08:07 pm Ursula K. Le Guin and SciFi
Who here is a fan of the SF/fantasy writer, Ursula K. Le Guin?

The SciFi channel did an adaptation of Le Guin's "Earthsea" fantasies recently. Many people were very angry about the series' portrayal of nearly all the main characters as white. Ursula Le Guin herself hated the series for many reasons, but above all this "whitewashing." She is strongly influenced by Taoism and Native American spirituality, had mostly brown and black characters, and felt with justification that a white Earthsea could not do justice to her work. She wrote that she's had letters from teens of color saying they couldn't find people like themselves in any YA science fiction but hers. (This may not have been the case for real and may no longer be true, what with authors like Octavia Butler and portayals of people of color in some SF television series, but it's still important.)

Oh. Yeah. Le Guin hates Bush and all his works and pomps. She thought we were in trouble some time ago, so can you imagine what she thinks now?

I've put up a community to protest this bowdlerization, save_earthsea. Everyone's invited to take a look at it and join in suggested projects for protest and in discussion about the racial issues involved, including to develop new projects friendly to people of color.

Thanks for reading this!

Sorry, this was too good not to post. Things have slowed down a little around here because of president_dubya's antics and due to the fact that a lot of the resident ranting is taking place in my own LJ. Feel free to foam at the mouth yourself, and add any amusing or enlightening tidbits you may happen to come across.
